Life's Short...Lemon Zest Gift

Happy Thursday! How about some sunny lemons today using the Lemon Zest stamp set? I am on a major lemon obsession right now...I don't know if it's the actual lemons or the amazing yellow that's calling my name but I'm hooked and can't get enough! Today's project is inspired by a delicious (well...it's not actually edible, lol) Vetiver and Lemon Essential Oil Room Spray I found by Better Homes & Gardens. I absolutely love this smell and it would make a great little gift.

Summer Lemonade featuring Coffee Cafe

Happy Monday! Today's project is a fun card with some major summer vibes. First off, I'm lovin' the new Pineapple Punch color. It is so bright and vibrant! This was definitely the perfect color for a glass of lemonade.

I created this card for my teams theme challenge last week, "Fun in the Sun".

Project Measurements
Pineapple Punch card base 5.5" x 8.5" scored at 4.25"
Pineapple Punch layer 3.75" x 5"
Smoky Slate layer 2.5" x 3.5"
Shimmery White layer 2.25" x 3.25"

Helpful Tips
  • Stamp the cup outline first in Smoky Slate on Shimmery White cardstock. Allow it to dry. Then use Aqua Painters to watercolor the Pineapple Punch  inside the cup. Allow this to dry. PRO TIP- if you're short on time, speed up the drying process using your Stampin' Up! Heat Tool. Once dry, stamp the ice cubes in Smoky Slate.
  • Use the Coffee Cups framelits to die cut the frosty cup in vellum cardstock. PRO TIP- for a clear glass look use Window Sheet instead. Adhere the vellum by placing a glue dot in each corner (be sure to adhere your straw before adhering the vellum cup).
  • Use the Make a Difference stamp set to create the word "summer". Add lemon slices using the Lemon Zest stamp set.

Embossed Lemon Zest

Happy Thursday! If you watched my Stamparatus Unboxing video yesterday, I demonstrated how you can use the Stamparatus to heat emboss in any Stampin' Up! ink color. So cool right?! As promised, here is the finished project I created using the embossed lemon slice from the video.

This card was inspired by a card I created last year. I used the same embossing technique (without the Stamparatus of course) by covering the wet Watermelon Wonder ink with clear embossing powder. You have to be quick but it can be done. I definitely found it easier to use the Stamparatus and Versa Mark ink but if you don't have a Stamparatus, you can use the other process.

I love this comparison of both images (above and below). On the lemon slice you can see the embossing is very even and smooth on the image. Where as, on the flower, (where I used the technique without Versa Mark) the embossing has a more dewy look. Both look amazing in my opinion! I guess you can choose which way you want to emboss based on which look you want to achieve.
Which embossed finish do you prefer?

Check out the original blog post for the card above.

I've really been enjoying decorating the inside of my cards lately! Not sure I'll do it all the time, but for the cards where I feel inspired to do so, I will! I love how it finishes things up!

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed today's project.

Lemon Zest Birthday Card| Quitabug Sketch Challenge 1

Woohoo! Officially sharing my very first Quitabug Sketch Challenge! I love card sketches and I'm excited to start sharing them with you all. I used the Lemon Zest bundle to create today's card using the sketch.

What is a card sketch and how do I use it??

A card sketch is simply a digital card layout. You use this digital layout to help give you inspiration to create your own project. You can copy the layout exactly, as I did in my project, or you can use it as a starting point and tweak it however you like. The point is to use them as inspiration to get your creativity going!
